Humble beginnings

Newton Roofing Residential was founded by Toni Bryan roughly thirty years ago, and she still runs it. It started small and stayed deliberately local: a Watertown base, and a service area that reaches about as far as a crew can sensibly get to and back in a day.

That has not changed as the business grew. The company is still woman-owned, still independent, and still answering its own phone — which is a plainer thing than it sounds in a trade where a lot of the names homeowners call turn out to be lead brokers passing the job on.

Dedication to the craft

The work ranges from a three-tab asphalt roof on a ranch to standing seam copper on a turret, and the range is the point. A crew that only installs one product will find a way to recommend it for every house.

The credential behind that is the CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster program. Newton Roofing has held it continuously for more than a decade and was recognized with Tenured Member status in 2019 — a standing that has to be re-earned against the manufacturer’s standards every year rather than passed once.

The company has also taken Angie’s List Super Service Awards repeatedly since 2009, has been voted a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite in multiple recent years — most recently in 2025 — and has been featured on the Bob Vila Show.
